06/11/03 Surfboardbid is functional an open for business although things are still in Beta. We have less than 10 users- Surfline regulars. Nobody is being charged fee's. Our revenue at this point is negative. Hopefully we can get a few Pay Pal referals. 3 Pay Pal referals will cover the hosting fee for one month. It would be nice if we can at least break even on hosting. We are also going to be offering banner rotations to web advertisers that can meet our criteria. Pricing has not been formalized, interested parties should contact us by email.
News date: 10/06/03 Surfboardbid dot com has been operational for about 4 months and is generating revenue but operating at a loss. Surfboardbid ranks high in Google and Lycos, and a few other search engines. We have a pretty decent click through and sales rate with our advertisers through our affiliate links but affiliate links pay very small commissions. If you are an advertiser seeking top placement on all of our pages and willing to pay 15.00/month in 4 month increments- 60.00 for 4 months promotion, you will recieve top priority in our promotion program. In addition to complete site coverage of your surf related businesses banner we will carefully insert text references and links to your site which will dramaticaly improve your ranking in the search engines, particularly Google, the number one search engine. Our site ranks very high in Google search results and is also crawled regularly by many other search bots. Users of surfboardbid will see several different representations of your site on different pages and you will recieve visitors that will be trackable through your own web statistic software. We ask for a 4 month commitmant because we recognize an effective promotion takes months and not weeks.

Greetings! We made it to 2004. Happy New Year and all that good stuff. Surfboardbid is steaming along and we're happy to report that commissions from our affiliate advertisers have picked up. This will always be a free service, but if you want to help, you can use www.Surfboardbid.com as your portal to eBay. Whenever our members click on eBay auctions from whithin Surfboardbid and use the eBay service- Surfboardbid gets paid! Of course that is not to say that we want you to use eBay instead of Surfboardbid for auctioning- quite the contrary. We feel our service is better, because, well because it's OURS and it's FREE. But eBay will always have a wider audience than we do...well, at least for now they do. So why use Surfboardbid? Aside from being free, Surfboardbid is a great place to store your surfboard images. Just be sure that when you place an auction set it up to auto renew. Then when you want to display your surfboard somewhere else online, like an ebay auction or a messageboard, right click on your image and copy it's location on surfboardbid. Another good deal here is that if you are firm on your price, you can keep your auction going a long, long, time without all those auction fee's. It is your responsibility to advertise your auction page. Bookmark your auction url and get that link out there! The change of season is in full swing. The NPAC has diminished to mostly windswell while the SPAC has become more active. Still not much action in the mid latitude tropical Pacific storm belt- but it will certainly wake up at some point. Furthermore forcasters are predicting a heavy hurricane season for you Gulf coasters later this year. Waves are on the way. I promise.
You can get free updated swell and surf forcasts by searching the growing database of surf related sites at http://www.directory.surfboardbid.com. There are a few free resources in Surfboardbid's search engine.
Be sure to add your own surf related site to the surfboardbid.com database. Once the database is more complete with thousands of sites (it now has about a 150 or so sites listed) the database could live on forever as a seperate site. Who knows what the internet will look like in five years. Maybe the search engine will outgrow or outlive the auction site and take on a life of it's own. So be sure to add any surf sites you know about that should be listed.
